PREMISE

The CUPOLEX-PONTEX program, with an on-line guide, is the finite element calculation code for the numerical modelling of lattices and half-plane floors or reinforced concrete beams obtained by placing CUPOLEX and PONTEX together as required.

This program has graphical functions for entering geometrical data, material characteristics and contour conditions.Any perimeter beams (with a rectangular section, T or L beams) can be included in the analysis.

Having defined the elementary load conditions and the combinations, the stress parameters are calculated together with their envelopment if required. Predimensioning is the next phase. The CUPOLEX-PONTEX program provides the quantity of longitudinal reinforcements necessary to meet the resistance verifications according to either the permitted tensions or limit states method. To this end, the reference standard complied with are DM 96 and Eurocode 3.

Reinforcement layout, both lenghtways and sideways, calculated in automatic predimensioning, can be modified and adapted to suit the designer's requirements. The results are given in a very clear schematic graphical version.

The resulting layouts can be printed or exported to a metafile graphical format, becoming a good base to start drawing the executive tables.

To start working using the program please follow the examples above. We refer to forms inserted in the sub-directory "Examples" of the installation directory .

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The system works by programs Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0. It is required a card setting the video 800x600 or more and at least 256 colours (we recommend 65536).

Hardware requirements are the minimum requested for the normal use of the Windows applications. We did not notice problems in the use of the computer by PENTIUM 90 processors of the first version. Software applications are substantially improved by the use of PENTIUM processors of the second version (PENTIUM II, es. P350) and at least 64 Mb RAM. We recommend the use of a wheel-mouse (i.e. IntelliMouse).

The occupied room on a hard disk is small, about 13 MB. Further room on the disk might be requested for numerical models having big dimensions.
